The Journal of Management Studies invites you to participate in a live webinar on prescriptive theorizing in the context of societal grand challenges, which is part of the JMS Dialogues series:

Prescriptive Theorizing to Tackle Societal Grand Challenges: Promises and Perils

    April 12, 2024

    09:00-10:00 EST, 15:00-16:00 CET, 18:30-19:30 IST

    Webinar link (Zoom): bit.ly/48TFcAJ

Drawing on a recent point-counterpoint discussion in the journal, the panelists offer insightful perspectives on how management theories can contribute to addressing grand challenges such as climate change and sustainability, diversity and inclusion, and digital transformation. Participants will discuss, among other things, what prescriptive theorizing is, why it can be useful and necessary in the context of grand challenges, and the potential pitfalls. There will also be time for questions from the audience.

The Point-Counterpoint debate can be open accessed here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/page/journal/14676486/homepage/...

Moderator: Christopher Wickert (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam)

Point: Prescriptive Theorizing in Management Research: A New Impetus for Addressing Grand Challenges. Marvin Hanisch (University of Groningen)

Counterpoint: Panacea or Dangerous Practice: A Counterpoint to Hanisch's Argument for Prescriptive Theorizing

Samuel Horner (University of Liverpool), Joep Cornelissen (Erasmus University), Mike Zundel (University of Liverpool)

We look forward to seeing you there!
