National Climate Seminar focuses on Politics & Environment, Launches September 7

    Dear Colleagues,

This fall,  Bard CEP's National Climate Seminar  offers a bi-weekly series focused on environmental politics. Join us at noon eastern, via dial-in or webinar for these important conversations. I will kick things off next week. 9/7, with a discussion on the history of environmental politics. The period from 1970-1992 saw major US national legislation on topics ranging from clean water to climate change. Since 1994, the country has passed no significant environmental laws, and the dialog on the environment has become extremely partisan. What is the cause of this divide, and what are the prospects for the future?

Two weeks later (9/21) author Fred Rich will continue the theme of rebuilding bipartisan support for climate action, discussing his new book Getting to GreenAdditional seminars, including with Dallas Burtraw and Bill McKibben, are listed below.

The seminar format is 15 minutes of presentation followed by 45 minutes of Q&A, including questions from the national audience, so please invite your students to participate. All seminars are archived as podcasts or webinars.

If you would like a live speaker on the topic of politics and the the environment this fall, please check out our list of volunteer speakers- academic and NGO experts across the country who have agreed to give campus talks at no charge.

Thanks for the work you are doing-
