    Necessary Conversations Global Research Forum – Humanities and Business Ethics

    The Humanistic Management Association (HMA) invites interested scholars and practitioners to participate in the "Necessary Conversations" research forum. The forum focuses on ideas related to organizational practices that foster and promote human dignity and well-being in organizations and among societal stakeholders. The forum is facilitated every 1-2 months via global conference call around a topic of mutual interest.

    The next forum topic Necessary Conversations – Humanities and Business Ethics will be on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15, 12pm-1pm EST.  Dr. Christopher Michaelson will lead a discussion about how business impacts humanity and why business needs the humanities. Christopher Michaelson is the David A. and Barbara Koch Distinguished Professor of Business Ethics and Social Responsibility at the University of St. Thomas, Opus College of Business. As a scholar and business advisor, he explores how meaning and purpose in life and at work can improve our own and others' lives.

    Suggested preparation – please consider:
    ·         What are the four "classics of business literature" according to business leaders?
    ·         What work of literature, poetry, painting, film, music, dance, or other work of the arts and humanities has most shaped your personal and professional values?

    Overall, our goal for the Necessary Conversations forum is to:
    o   advance novel research questions and insights about the relationships between management, dignity, and human well-being;
    o   encourage and inspire organizational leadership to generate dignity through their management processes and practices; and,
    o   enliven teaching and learning initiatives in the classroom & inside organizations related to dignity and well-being
