Cleaner Production for Circular Economy in China:
Energy and Material Efficiency in Production Processes and
    Industry Parks

May 17th 2006, Tongji University, Shanghai

    The
College of Environmental Science and Engineering of the Tongji University together with the Energy Research Institute in Beijing and the French-German Institute for Environmental Research in Karlsruhe (Germany) conducts an international seminar on May 17th 2006 in Shanghai.
The improvement of energy and material efficiency provides not only positive effects on the economic performance, but also on the environmental impact of industrial activities. One aim of the concept of Cleaner Production is the improvement of energy and material efficiency.
The international seminar has several objectives:
    1. Presentation of the situation of Cleaner Production in
    Europe and Asia
    2. Introduction of the Concept of Pinch Analysis and it's application to determine Best Available Techniques
    3. Results and Experiences of Companies and
Industry Parks in China and Chile
The seminar is in the context of the research project PepOn "Integrated Process Design for the Inter-Enterprise Plant Layout Planning of Dynamic Mass Flow Networks".
The seminar takes place in a series of international workshops of the PepOn Project. The proceedings of the first international workshop "Challenges for Industrial Production" in 2005 in
Karlsruhe are available as a book or online:

The workshop is open for any interested person.
The project PepOn is funded by a grant of the VolkswagenStiftung / VolkswagenFoundation within their program for the funding of researchers in the interdisciplinary field of environmental research.
