  • 1.  Business and sustainability teaching resources: cleaner materials and green chemistry

    Posted 06-15-2015 10:59

Dear colleagues teaching in the area of business and sustainability,

As you consider updating your course materials for the fall, would you like to include topics like "cleaner materials", "green chemistry", "sustainable cleaning products", "biomaterials", "sustainability in the chemical industry", etc. into your courses on business and sustainability?

If so, I would like to bring a marvellous resource to your attention: the "teaching resources" website of the Interdisciplinary Network for Green Chemistry (IN4GC).

    http://www.mcgill.ca/desautels/integrated-management/mdiim-initiatives/sustainability-initiative/research/in4gc/teaching-resources

The website includes a database containing summary and ordering details for >100 teaching cases on a wide range of topics related to the elimination of toxic substances from products and industrial processes. The teaching cases are searchable by industry, company, environmental issue, business logic and green chemistry principle, among other search keys. Many of the cases can also be used to teach mainstream concepts such as product differentiation, eco-efficiency, etc. in courses on strategy, marketing and operations.

The website also includes links to lecture plans, PowerPoint slide decks and multimedia teaching resources.

Information about IN4GC can be found here: http://www.mcgill.ca/desautels/integrated-management/mdiim-initiatives/sustainability-initiative/research/in4gc

If you would like more information about IN4GC, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Dear Steve,

Thank you for sending information about the available materials - this is indeed a great resource and very timely.

I just wanted to add that an updated case about the environmental and business benefits of Pfizer green chemistry strategy was just released last week - https://www.iveycases.com/ProductView.aspx?id=69292

    Best,

    Vesela
