[Yes, I dare cross-post, so you'll probably see this on the SIM list as well – so please be mentally prepared for the trauma.]

Please see the attached Call for Papers/Presentations for the upcoming Coastal Cities Summit.  The <st1:city w:st="on">Summit</st1:city> will be held next Nov. 17-20, in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">St. Petersburg</st1:city></st1:place> and St. Pete Beach (not a bad place to be in Nov.).

The <st1:city w:st="on">Summit</st1:city> is the inaugural event of the newly established International Oceans Institute - <st1:country-region w:st="on">USA</st1:country-region>, the 25th IOI center in the world (and the first in the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">US</st1:place></st1:country-region>).  IOI-USA and the city of <st1:city w:st="on">St. Petersburg</st1:city> are co-hosts to the event, and the <st1:placename w:st="on">Kiran</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">C.</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Patel</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Center</st1:placetype> for Globalizations at the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">South Florida</st1:placename></st1:place> (http://www.patelcenter.usf.edu) is playing a major role in its organization.  The purpose of the <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Summit</st1:place></st1:city> is to discuss challenges and solutions faced by coastal cities, with a particular focus on those who are at the "front lines" in times of crisis, such as city mayors and other local officials.

    Hope to see you there.

    Best,

    Mike
