    Colleagues:

Here is a short video describing the effects on Artic wildlife of PCBs.  You might find it useful for class.

    http://video.msn.com/v/us/v.htm?g=B1CB6C87-B7C8-466A-AA61-4F5CBE47E1DF&f=06/64&fg=copy

Does anyone know of other good videos (online or on DVD) that could be used in a discussion of sustainability/green/ecological issues?

One video that I have used and think is great is The Next Industrial
Revolution, which focuses on the green design area, especially the work of
William McDonough and his associates. Several excellent examples are given.

Another that I haven't seen but have put in a request to preview is The
Ecological Footprint: Accounting for a Small Planet, focusing on the concept
of the same name developed by Wackernagel. Has anyone seen this one?

"Exporting Harm," a video about e-waste treatment in China, evokes a
strong response from students. It is available from the Basel Action
Network (ban.org). They also have a newer video about exporting e-waste
    to Africa.

Does anyone know if (and how) one can obtain Al Gore's "An Inconvenient
Truth" for classroom/educational (or personal) use? I've heard that for
the immediate future, it's only in theatrical release, but I'm hoping
    someone might have other insights.

One video that I have used and think is great is The Next Industrial
Revolution, which focuses on the green design area, especially the work
    of
William McDonough and his associates. Several excellent examples are
    given.

Another that I haven't seen but have put in a request to preview is The
Ecological Footprint: Accounting for a Small Planet, focusing on the
    concept

of the same name developed by Wackernagel. Has anyone seen this one?

I also recommend Tom Brokaw's special for the Discovery Channel
entitled "Global Warming," which was broadcast about a half-dozen
times in July and August. It was well done, and without commercials
the run time is about 1 hour 20 minutes, so it could be fit into a
standard class session. Last I checked, Discovery Channel had not yet
begun to provide it via DVD, but they intended to at some point in
    the future.

Even at $800, renting the film might be worth it. Here in small town
Nova Scotia we rented it for one showing (last week). We had to add
three extra shows. The first three shows were all sold-out, the last
showing was almost full. There is a lot of buzz around this film that
    is worth leveraging.

    Cheers,

    Mike,

I am arranging a showing on campus here at Michigan. You can contact
Paramount to do this at a cost of about $800.
