HANDBOOK OF RESEARCH ON ENERGY ENTREPRENEURSHIP
edited by Rolf Wüstenhagen and Robert Wuebker
    (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2010)

    ABSTRACT DEADLINE FEBRUARY 19, 2009

    Motivation

The urgency of global resource and climate challenges have highlighted the
need for entrepreneurial solutions to the sustainable provision of energy.
While being of key significance for business, investors and society, energy
entrepreneurship is also an emerging discipline in academia. To take stock
of existing academic knowledge in this field, and to highlight some of the
vast opportunities for future research, we are editing a handbook of
research on energy entrepreneurship, to be published by Edward Elgar
Publishing in 2010. We expect that this emerging domain is set to show
increasing prominence among scholars in entrepreneurship research, catching
up quickly with traditional focus areas such as information technology and
biotechnology. At the same time, scholars in energy and sustainability
management, as well as in the domain of organizations and the natural
environment, are increasingly discovering research opportunities related to
    energy entrepreneurship.

The book will open with a thorough survey of energy entrepreneurship as a
research field; conceptual, theoretical and geographic aspects are
explored, and its pioneers revisited. The focus then shifts to specific
aspects of energy entrepreneurship. Two sections investigate the respective
roles of energy entrepreneurship in start-ups and large incumbent firms. A
fourth section looks at commercialization of energy innovation, including
entrepreneurial marketing. Section five turns to aspects of financing
entrepreneurial firms and energy innovation. The final section investigates
the interface between public policy and energy entrepreneurship.

Across the different sections, we expect the book to provide a variety of
insights on theoretical, conceptual and methodological approaches that may
be fruitfully applied to the emerging research field on energy
entrepreneurship. The objective is to produce an all-encompassing handbook,
which will prove an invaluable reference tool for those with an interest in
policy, business management, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the
financing of new and growth-oriented energy firms.

available at a paper development workshop.
