    Dear Colleagues,

As you may know, Organization and Environment is undergoing a major change in editorial focus that will make it a central journal in our field.  As part of this transformation, the journal is undergoing a facelift as it moves to a new to a new format.

We believe that we can use this change as an opportunity to experiment by creating a front cover that can feature the artistic talents of our readers and also help to signal a more open and participatory style for the journal.  Specifically, we'd like to use the front cover as a way to showcase examples of outstanding environmentally-oriented photography by our readers.  We are absolutely flexible with regard to content: Anything from beautiful natural scenes to shots of people and organizations acting on behalf of the environment is fair game.

Perhaps to reduce trepidations of those who might mistakenly believe that we might be soliciting museum-quality shots, the editors have asked someone not gifted with artistic talents (me) to receive and organize the candidate photos.

So send us a photo! It is not necessary to have super high resolution (in fact, a limit of 5 MB will allow our InBoxes to accept nominations).

Send any shots to mrusso@uoregon.edu by December 30.  If we get four great photos, we are in business for 2013.  If not, at least we can say we tried, and maybe public domain photos aren't so boring after all!
