Dear Colleagues,
You know those feelings you get after attending the
AASHE annual conference
and other sustainability conferences – inspired, motivated, a sense of belonging, perhaps even giddy to return to campus to do "the work"? In light of the U.S. November elections, we at the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (
AASHE
) are aware that now more than ever is time for our community to come together to remember the awesome (and non-partisan) work we're doing on campuses and beyond. Let's end 2016 with a good dose of motivation to keep us going through 2017.
In the spirit of the winter holiday season, invite some of your colleagues, make some cookies and tea, and join
Marcia Chatelain
,
Anthony Cortese
,
Leith Sharp
and
Meghan Fay Zahniser
(they'll be sporting ugly winter sweaters) for an hour-long virtual, video event that aims to unify us despite the U.S. 2016 presidential election, which has impacted the world and exposed a divided nation. The work we do as campus sustainability professionals is breaking down walls and building bridges. It is rooted in a sense of togetherness and results in demonstrable change. It's tough work but critically important.
During difficult times, being in community helps us find strength and determination to stay the course. We hope you'll gather some colleagues around the virtual fire and join us on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. ET. After the webinar, you'll be sent a set of resources that will connect you with some action-oriented efforts supporting the overall sustainability movement.
