Holiday Reminder for students considering environmental or sustainability graduate school applications- please pass along.

Most graduate schools in sustainability in the US have their first application deadline for fall 2017 admission around January 15. Meeting this deadline will typically set students up for the best access to work-study positions, research and teaching assistantships. Also, many schools will accept your application even if you don't have your GRE scores in hand by January 15. That said, they will likely need your GRE's to make a final acceptance decision. Finally, don't worry if you haven't completed all prerequisites for admission- if you have one or two outstanding, schools will still consider your application, and accept you "conditional" on successfully completing the pre-reqs.

That said, don't panic if you do miss the January 15 deadline. Most schools have a March deadline, and many will accept applicants as late as May. And you will still be eligible for financial aid and scholarships if you apply by those later dates.

More info on grad school considerations can be found here: From College to Sustainability Career in Four Steps.

And finally, Thursday at noon eastern will be the final opportunity this semester to join a webinar on "How to Get a Job in Sustainability: Mission-Driven Careers in NGOs. Government and Business". Webinar details are here.

Experience-based education.  Our MS degrees are organized around a high-level professional internship, and the MBA features a first-year consultancy working for top companies on sustainability challenges.  Here is a video with recent grads on the internship experience. And another video on the work on water management and sustainable development in Oaxaca, Mexico that policy students pursue during our January term in the first year. In addition, the low residency structure of the MBA means that OSU alums can also pursue the sustainable business degree from anywhere with an easy flight to NYC.

One-on-one focus with excellent faculty on skills development, professional writing, and communication.  Bard was recently awarded  #1 Classroom Experience by Princeton Review, and we take that approach into the graduate programs.

Strong career pathway.  The internship and consultancy experiences, along with access to Bard's strong and growing network of sustainability professionals, give students a strong advantage in the job market. Here is a link to our GPS Alumni LookBook showing where all our alums are working.

In addition, we offer the opportunity to pursue Peace Corps service and earn a masters at the same time, as well as a joint MS-JD program with Pace Law  We expect to launch a new M.Ed degree in Environmental Education as well in fall of 2017. Finally, we have a "junior year at Bard" program allowing qualified undergraduates to pursue a 3+2 and earn their MS degree with just one additional year of study.

Of course, glad to talk at any time with interested students.
