Colleagues,
On January 31, the Network for Business Sustainability (NBS) will host its
first interactive webinar targeted at sustainability research centre
directors. The goal of these webinars is to share learnings to improve
Centres' effectiveness. This first webinar will address academic-industry
collaborations. The webinar will start with brief presentations from
researchers and managers engaged in collaborations, followed by an
interactive discussion with webinar participants. I do hope you can join us.
Details below.
As well, please consider joining the Sustainability Centre's Community,
where you can create a public profile, search others' profiles, and post
announcements and opportunities:

Collaborative Research: How to meet the needs of both academic and industry
partners
Date: Thursday, January 31, 2013
Time: 1-2 pm Eastern Standard Time
Guest speakers
Two academic-practitioner teams will share challenges and best practices
based on their experience conducting collaborative research.
. Dr. Stephanie Bertels (Simon Fraser University) has co-developed a
unique form of collaborative research. Dr. Bertels is using this process to
extend her work on embedding sustainability in corporate culture. The model
involves companies in both driving new research and implementing findings.
o James Gray-Donald (Bentall Kennedy) is a participant in Dr. Bertels
research.
. Dr. Omar Romero-Hernandez (University of California, Berkeley) does
collaborative research on green energy and supply chains. He also creates
tools to help companies implement sustainability research.
o Steve Hahn (Dow Chemical) is a participant in Dr. Romero-Hernandez's
research.
Open dialogue
Webinar participants will have a chance to share their perspective. The
technology will allow attendees to speak directly to one another with audio
and video.
Please share this opportunity with any sustainability research centres that
may be interested. Centres should be affiliated with a university or
business school.
