.I am working on a career discussion for the ONE doctoral consortium in Anaheim. I’d like to do a little informal survey to provide some examples/insights for the discussion beyond my personal knowledge. So, if you are currently a faculty member of ONE, I’d appreciate you answering a few questions for me by July 15. I will keep everything you tell me confidential and provide only general profiles and examples based on what the group shares with me. Please send your replies to
bribbens@up.edu.mx. Thanks for your help.
1. What are the advantages or strengths of developing a ONE focused academic career?
2. What are the obstacles or challenges of developing a ONE focused academic career?
3. What advice about an ONE focused career do you have based on your experience that you wish you had known when you were a doctoral student?
4. What would you change about your early career if you could?
Then I’d like just a few general demographics to put these insights into perspective:
years since Ph.D.
current status (non tenure track, pretenure, tenured, advanced (full professor, etc))
level of focus on ONE issues (interested but limited involvement, mixed involvement with another area, primarily focused on ONE issues)
These are quite general since this is more for a basis of discussion rather than for research, so feel free to add in other things you think it would be good for doctoral students to think about in terms of their careers.
