  • 1.  BOP case studies

    Dear Colleagues:

     

    I am searching for some interesting Base-of-the-Pyramid case studies that I can present to my senior students taking the capstone course on strategic management. I am particularly interested in case studies that feature emerging markets of <st1:country-region w:st="on">India</st1:country-region>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">Brazil</st1:country-region>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">China</st1:country-region> and/or <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Russia</st1:place></st1:country-region>. However, if you use case studies of some other countries, I am very keen to get information on those as well. Please guide me on to such a resource.

  • 2.  BOP case studies

    Dear Arti,

     

    We have quite a bit on BOP in GIN, ever since CK Prahalad sparked a huge debate at GIN1999 in Chapel Hill.  We had excellent sessions at GIN2006 in Cardiff last July.  Check the links on the GIN home page.  (Proceedings are available on line to GIN members, giving unlimited downloads.)  At GIN2007 in Canada this June, BOP is one of the main themes of the conference.  We will have a plenary panel with Stu Hart, and a workshop organized by Minna Halme and Prabhu Kandachar – summary attached as well as Call for journal issue and book.  See program at www.wlu.ca/ginconference, chaired this year by Sanjay Sharma.  Please consider joining us there.

    Hi Aarti,

    In response to this message, I'd just like to point you in the direction of our CasePlace.org website www.caseplace.org, a free, online resource for up-to-date case studies, syllabi and innovative teaching materials on sustainability in business.  The site can be searched by a wide range of categories - topic, author, discipline, publication date, etc.  A keyword search on "Bottom of the Pyramid" and "Base of Pyramid" yields the following results http://www.caseplace.org/search/search_list.htm?searchstring1=bottom+of+the+pyramid&order=date&x=6&y=9 and http://www.caseplace.org/search/search_list.htm?searchstring1=bottom+of+the+pyramid&order=date&x=6&y=9.  In addition to case studies listed, there are some good syllabi on this topic.  Searches can also be cross-searched by country.
