    The Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI) <http://www.bgiedu.org/> is looking for a handful of exceptional faculty and administrative academic leaders to take our successful start-up program to the next level of performance and impact.  BGI's pioneering MBA and Certificate programs prepare diverse leaders to build enterprises that are economically successful, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable.  We are located on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, Washington.
     
     
    ADMINISTRATION POSITIONS

     
    Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs

    The Provost & VP Academic Affairs is the chief academic administrator of the Institute, responsible for academic program vision, planning and delivery, quality assurance, standards, and effectiveness in both MBA and Certificate programs. The Provost & VP Academic Affairs provides oversight of the process for design, delivery and assessment of the academic program and curriculum. S/he operates in a collaborative manner, providing leadership for the other deans and directors and the cross-Institute Management Team. S/he is the primary advisor to the President on the academic budget and acts for the President in his or her absence.
     
     
    Dean of Faculty and Instruction

    Under the direction of the Provost, the Dean of Faculty and Instruction has responsibility for managing all aspects of the faculty, pedagogy and instructional support to optimize learning, satisfaction and institutional effectiveness. The Dean has direct responsibility for faculty management, MBA program design and delivery, distance learning, leadership in continuous improvement of teaching effectiveness and developing resources to support teaching and learning.
     
     
    Director of Academic Administration and Assessment

    Under the direction of the Provost, the Director of Academic Administration and Assessment has responsibility for development and oversight of the academic administrative systems, including registration, library, student services, accreditation and all assessment activities.
     
     
    Qualifications for these Administrative Positions:

    The ideal candidates will possess:
     
    • A PhD or equivalent degree in business, education, environmental studies, or other appropriate academic discipline for the Provost and Dean positions. Master's degree minimum for Director; PhD. Preferred.

    • Significant experience in academic administration, adult education and distance learning

    • Significant experience in the private sector and crossover experience in the public and/or non-profit sectors

    • Demonstrated interest in issues of sustainability

    • A collaborative decision-making style, expertise in group process, and experience leading high performance teams

    • Demonstrated ability to create systems, as well as run them

    • The ability to thrive in states of chaos, ambiguity, and perpetual change

    • A sense of humor

     
    Compensation

    Commensurate with experience.
     
     
    FACULTY POSITIONS

    BGI is seeking up to four Core Faculty FTEs for the 2008-09 school year. Core faculty both teach and serve as faculty departmental leads. We are seeking PhD-qualified faculty capable of teaching in one or more of the following areas:
     
    • Finance, Accounting and Quantitative Methods
    • Sustainable Business
    • Operations
    • Strategy
    • Marketing
    • Economics
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Management and Leadership
    • Systems Thinking
    • Social Justice
    • Creativity and Innovation

     
    Required Faculty Qualifications

    • PhD or equivalent terminal degree in an appropriate discipline

    • Demonstrated interest in the BGI focus on Sustainable Business and Social Justice

    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively

    • Significant successful teaching experience with adult students

    • On-line teaching experience


    Compensation

    Commensurate with experience. Range $60,000-80,000 for a nine-month appointment. Summer employment also available.
