Call for Papers - Special Issue: Sustainable Business Development
Journal of Engineering and Technology Management
SPECIAL ISSUE CALL FOR PAPERS:
Engineering and Technology Management for Sustainable Business Development
Guest Editors: Angappa Gunasekaran, Eric W.T. Ngai and Marcus Wagner
Sustainable business development (SBD) is concerned about developing organizations that meet the needs of society without sacrificing future generations' needs. This has two dimensions: (i) priority should be given to the basic needs of the world's poor; and (ii) limitations imposed by the technology and social institutions on the environment's ability to meet present and future needs. Engineering and technology management professionals are increasingly interested in SBD as today's organizations have to manage limited resources. Given the significance of SBD on organizational competitiveness in the 21st century, this special issue will publish papers that deal with engineering and technology management strategies, tactics and tools, including models for SBD. The aim of this special issue is to thus understand the various decisions involved in effectively developing and managing more sustainable businesses by suitable engineering and technology management strategies.
The objective of this special issue is to publish original research that deepens our theoretical understanding of the interface between SBD and engineering & technology management, and demonstrates the application of various strategies, tactics, techniques and tools arising from research on the evolving approaches and concepts of, innovation in SBD. Contributed papers may deal with but are not limited to the following, but there is an expectation that all submissions will focus on the role of innovation.
- Sustainable business development and performance
- Corporate innovation and competitive advantage for SBD
- Strategic management of engineering and technology for SBD
- R&D management for SBD
- Knowledge and technology management for SBD
- Evaluation on the sustainable performance in business development
- Product sustainability assessment/evaluation (metrics, methods, and procedures)
- Product design for sustainability (economic, environmental and societal)
- Designing and creating sustainable reporting platform for business and industrial development
- Product recovery management for disassembly, reuse, recovery, recycling and remanufacturing
- Sustainable Lifecycle engineering management, product design and manufacture
Publishing a diverse set of high-quality papers should enhance the awareness of the SBD, the role of engineering and technology management strategies and techniques in moving forward the agenda of developing more sustainable businesses.
Submission guidelines and important dates:
Papers should contain original research contributions that demonstrate the rigor emphasized in the editorial statement of the Journal of Engineering and Technology Management. All manuscripts should conform to JET-M guidelines for authors (see: www.elsevier.com/locate/jengtecman). The review process will follow the standard norm of JET-M, but will be managed by the Guest Editors. Submissions are due by August 31, 2012. The anticipated publication date of the special issue is late 2013.
