    Dear Colleagues,

I will be on the road again this coming semester recruiting for Bard's policy and business graduate programs in sustainability, and I am glad to stop by your campus and give a guest talk to environmental studies, policy, economics or business classes, or a public lecture (no charge!). Offering the two presentations below. I'd be grateful if you would pass this opportunity along to interested faculty and staff.  I will be traveling primarily in the eastern US and southeast, but I will also be in the greater Chicago area, and in Portland for the AASHE conference. I am also happy to beam into classes via skype to discuss these topics.

Obama's Climate Plan: State Action, Grassroots Opportunities

Using the authority of the Clean Air Act, Obama's EPA is moving forward with proposed regulations on global warming pollution from existing power plants. The EPA's target is 17% reductions below 20.06 levels by 2020-but the final outcome will be determined as the states actually move to implement the regulations. Today,  citizen groups have an unprecedented opportunity to drive the state level dialog, and advocate for deeper emission cuts This talk outlines the avenues for grassroots engagement with state regulators.

Ubering On: Disappearing Jobs, the "New Economy", and the Future of Work

From the depths of the 2008 crash, the US has experienced yet another jobless recovery, with high unemployment sustained for one of the longest periods since the great depression. With the failure of the "old economy", attention has focused on an IT-enabled New Economy, variously modified as "sharing", "local", "sustainable", "idealist", "mission-driven" and "resilient".  This talk focuses on the forces driving the emergence of the New Economy, and assesses whether the new boss will be the same as the old boss.

Thanks for your interest, and glad to answer any questions.

    Regards,

    Eban
