BECC is currently in its tenth year and is associated with a growing set of allied conferences in Europe and Asia. Broad Goals -
Identify lessons about behavior and decision making that advance energy and climate solutions -
Help integrate research insights throughout the value chains of energy-using goods and services -
Expand support for social science research as applied to the biggest contributors to today's energy challenges -
Facilitate knowledge accumulation, exchange, and collaboration across analytical approaches from micro to macro (e.g., individual, group, organizational, societal behavior, and decision making) Themes: Behavioral research insights can help -
Find real energy savings that will benefit the economy, security, and the environment -
Accelerate climate-friendly innovation via appealing user-focused design, faster diffusion, and better management practices -
Increase the benefits and decrease the costs of energy-oriented policies and programs -
Improve the analytic models that guide our vision. | | BECC celebrates 10 years with this conference. Join us and see how far we have advanced in thinking and action. | | | SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS Submission site for presentations and posters We invite 250-word abstracts for formal oral presentations, with or without a full paper; short "lightning talks"; and poster presentations. If you have an idea for a complete panel of speakers, you may also submit combined abstracts for a single panel. Abstracts may be considered independently of panels if a submitted panel is not accepted. We are seeking well-documented applications of energy and climate behavioral approaches found in or created by policies and programs at individual, organizational, or community scales. We are also interested in new relevant behavioral research findings, including measured results and best practices. We welcome approaches that are theoretical, empirical,or narrative, or that involve modeling, case studies, or other innovative forms. Policies and programs that have demonstrated results in changing behavior are of particular interest. We are also seeking panels that offer thoughtful discussions of emerging policy or program issues, behavioral research methods, or novel or transformative ideas. Examples of areas of interest include: * Climate change policy and/or science * Programs or research in developing countries * Equity issues (low-income or underserved clients) * Sharing economies * Fantastic failures * Nontraditional funding sources, e.g., crowd sourcing * Organizational practices As part of the application process, we will ask you to choose a research area and a research sector. Alternatively, you can offer your own description of your work. Research areas (or add your own) * Organizations and management * Program design and implementation * Social norms and culture change * Evaluation * Technology and innovation * Government policy and planning * Models, metrics, decision analysis, and other analytics * Marketing and communication * Advances in social science * Other (describe) Sectors (or add your own) * Residential efficiency * Commercial buildings * Manufacturing * Community * Transportation * Food and agriculture * Water * Waste * Information and communications technology (ICT) * Renewables * Other (describe) Presentation and poster submission site | BECC draws a broad mix of attendees: -
