Visiting Assistant Professor in General Management/Sustainability

The College of Management at Bucknell University seeks a full-time, visiting faculty member qualified to teach regularly scheduled courses in management. In particular, the successful candidate will be capable of teaching courses in business and society and/or strategic management; candidates with capabilities in economic, sociocultural, and/or environmental sustainability will be preferred. The appointment will start in August 2017 and last for one academic year (2017-2018).

The AACSB-accredited College of Management serves 550 students and offers innovative professional education in the context of one of the nation's leading liberal arts universities. Students choose from four interdisciplinary majors that combine courses in the various disciplines of management with offerings in the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, and engineering. We believe that an education that combines technical skills and deep intellectual exploration is the best preparation for thoughtful and capable leaders, and we seek faculty members capable of contributing to this mission.

A record of excellence in undergraduate teaching is required. Qualified candidates will have completed or be near completion of the Ph.D. degree or equivalent. The College is committed to diversity, inclusion, and student-centered pedagogy. We also embrace the teacher-scholar model; although visiting faculty are not required to engage in research, we look with favor on those making creative intellectual contributions to teaching and scholarship in their field.

Bucknell University, an Equal Opportunity Employer, believes that students learn best in a diverse, inclusive community and is therefore committed to academic excellence through diversity in its faculty, staff, and students. We seek candidates who are committed to Bucknell's efforts to create a climate that fosters the growth and development of a diverse student body, and we welcome applications from members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in higher education.

Located in Central Pennsylvania along the Susquehanna River, Bucknell University is nestled in the Borough of Lewisburg, an architectural gem ranked as one of America's best small towns. The area offers a unique combination of outdoor recreation opportunities and appealing amenities such as art galleries, an art deco theater, a world-class performing arts center, and charming independent boutiques and restaurants. The surrounding region offers outstanding schools and medical facilities, as well as an affordable cost of living. For those who crave the city, Bucknell is within an easy three-hour drive to Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.

A formal application must be submitted through Interfolio ByCommittee. Complete files must include a letter of application, a current vita (including the names and contact information of three references), evidence of teaching effectiveness (if available), and a statement of teaching philosophy. Please do not submit letters of references unless and until asked to do so by the search committee chair.

Applications are currently being reviewed; review will continue until the position is filled. Questions may be directed to search committee chair Jamie Hendry (jhendry@bucknell.edu).
