In recent years, the number of business sustainability/responsibility research centres has grown considerably. There is a need and an opportunity for these research centres to collaborate and to communicate their work to the communities of research and practice.
The Network for Business Sustainability (
nbs.net) is pleased to launch an online community connecting university-based business sustainability research centres from around the world:
http://nbs.net/sustainability-centres. The Sustainability Centres Community aims to (1) profile the research, teaching, and outreach happening at sustainability centres and (2) enable centres to connect and collaborate. Over 50 Centres are already part of this community.
If you manage or are affiliated with a centre at your university, I encourage you to join the community by visiting:

* Profile your activities to the many thousands of researchers and managers that visit the nbs website;
* Find other centres by location, activities or organizational structure ;
* Share relevant events, announcements and opportunities to our communities of research and practice.
So, why did we create the community? In April 2012, 60 representatives of sustainability centres attended a workshop hosted by NBS in London, Canada. Their goals were to find efficiencies, increase their impact, and form new partnerships. The participants from this group stated clearly the need to have greater communication and collaboration. NBS, as a non-profit that serves the communities of research and practice, volunteered to coordinate this activity.
