Dear ONE/SIM/MED/OMT/Academy "Active" Members:
Are you concerned about the world's increasing environmental and socio-economic sustainability challenges? Are you wondering whether your academic career is addressing those challenges within time and spatial scales that matter? Are you interested in brainstorming with other academic colleagues who are seeking to connect these sustainability challenges and their academic careers more effectively?
If you answered "yes" to each of these questions, then an active, vibrant, and diverse group of ONE scholars wants you to join them Friday morning, August 1st, at 8am in the Penn. Convention Center (room 202B) for an inspiring and energizing Professional Development Workshop on "Urgent Academic Sustainability Management Action,"! This session will initiate, develop, and begin to implement ideas and actions on those sustainability challenges and opportunities that attendees believe to be both most salient and most addressable in their professional (and even personal) lives. Since academics play many professional roles in societies, including researcher, teacher, consultant, advisor, service-provider, and network/organization member, and, given that we are also family members, neighbors, consumers, and citizens, academics have multiple opportunities to influence both the direction and speed of sustainability efforts.
Start your Academy conference experience this year with a commitment to sustainability action – join Marie-France Turcotte, Sanjay Sharma, Monika Winn, Yijun Xing, Gordon Rands, Suzanne Benn, Martina Linnenluecke, Yipeng Liu, Robert Perey, and yours truly, in brainstorming and action-forming urgent academic sustainability management solutions-for-results! All "Active" ONE, SIM, MED, OMT, and other Academy members are welcome!
Mark Starik, ONE/SIM (and San Francisco State University)
