| Detailed Job Description: | The <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Nevada</st1:placename>, <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Reno</st1:place></st1:city> seeks a full-time Director for its Academy for the Environment. The Director will be the chief administrator of the Academy, a university-wide interdisciplinary unit created in 2004 to stimulate interdisciplinary research collaborations within the University, to foster inter-institutional cooperation with other institutions that address environmental issues, to develop curricular innovation, and to generally promote the University's environmental programs.
Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate or other terminal degree in any discipline from a regionally accredited institution and three years of university-level teaching or research experience. This experience must include at least two years work in environmental studies. Strong preference will be given to candidates with substantial experience in leadership positions, a high level of knowledge about environmental issues and policy, and the ability to leverage external funding through collaborative proposals and development activities. The successful candidate should also possess excellent communication skills that facilitate effective interaction not only within the university community but also with external constituencies.
