We're kicking off the New Year for our online Essential Conversations series about business and human rights on 21 January at 4pm UK time, with a presentation from Dr. Janine Allenbacher, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.
Title: "Insights from Four Years of BHR Research"
Janine will present key findings from her PhD dissertation on corporate human rights practices in global supply chains. Her findings address the effectiveness of HRDD-related practices in changing suppliers' behavior and cascading human rights standards further upstream.
Janine will also discuss which practices are most suitable for generating positive impacts for rightsholders in conflict-affected areas and how businesses can move beyond symbolic compliance with HRDD laws. A particular focus of the presentation will be on the implications of these findings for the BHR field and avenues for future research.
