    Graduate Research Assistant sought (six-month part-time) 

    Eligibility: must be affiliated with Canadian Universities, and ideally have finished course work.

    Qualifications and skills required:

    • ideally trained in organizational theory (OT) and/or related field; 
    • trained in qualitative research methods and able to use Nvivo software for data analysis;
    • critical thinking; 
    • ability to work independently; 
    • excellent relation-building skills are essential as the work will entail working with indigenous communities.

    The Plastic Recycling Research Project team consists of an interdisciplinary team ranging from engineering, psychology, and organization theory, industry partners, and policy makers. The graduate student will carry out this research with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, industry partners, and other related organizations. The project will examine:

    • the factors that attract and/or deter organizations to participate in emerging technology (e.g. biodegradable plastic technology and closed-loop supply chain networks);
    • the factors that encourage and/or impede organizations to participate in closed-loop supply chain networks;
    • policies and community actions that mobilize more organizations to adopt emerging technology that in turn lead to new job opportunities, sustainable and heathier economic development, better protection for communities and the natural environment.

    Duties include:

    • Conducting hands-on research activities: collecting archival data on the industry and relevant organizations, and conducting interviews;
    • Carrying out data analysis – qualitative data analysis;
