    The ONE Division will sponsor a Paper Development Workshop (PDW) titled "Institutional Leadership and Policy Innovations for Purpose-driven Business:Exploring the Case of B Corp movement" at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Chicago, USA.

    Participants will have the chance to receive developmental feedback from the following list of scholars with a specific expertise in the field of the B Corp movement, but also in the field of sustainability strategy, management, and measurement. The faculty mentors include:

    The PDW is structured in two sections: the first section will be dedicated to a panel discussion, in which panelists will introduce B Corp research and present past and ongoing research trends involving the role of institutions for the governance of purpose-driven ecosystems such as that of B Corp movement. Panelists and Discussant will converse about potential research trajectories involving B Corps, measurement systems, and institutions preserving the integrity of sustainable development. Specifically, scholars will explore the role of institutional leadership and policy innovations for purpose-driven assessment schemes by highlighting the field of B Corps and the role of B Lab, the institution that oversees the B Corp certification assessment. Panelists may concentrate on the following question: how institutions can support the diffusion of purpose-driven businesses? Is the case of B Lab for the B Corps and benefit corporations the model to follow? What alternative models are emerging? The final part of this section will be dedicated to Q&A with the audience.

     

    The second section of the PDW is dedicated to participants who have submitted short papers. The admitted participants will receive feedback from the Round Table Facilitators and other participants. The Round Table Facilitators represent different backgrounds and methodological expertise, but all share interests, experience and ongoing research activities about the B Corp movement. The organizers will develop themes for each round table so that participants sharing similar interests will be grouped together.

     

     

    Registration

    Registration is required for Part 2 of the workshop. To register, participants must submit: 

    a short (maximum 4,000 words) paper or project related to B Corps or benefit corporations structured as follows:

    results or expected results

    potential contributions

    please indicate the stage of the project and the type of feedback that would be most helpful to you
