Call for papers | Track on 'Wicked Problems and the Governance of Partnerships in Social-Ecological Systems’
Conveners: Art Dewulf, Domenico Dentoni and Rob Lubberink (Wageningen University, The Netherlands)
Deadline for abstract submission: December 13th, 2019
At the Cross-Sector Social Interactions (CSSI) 2020 conference titled:
“Putting Partnerships in their Place: Exploring the relationships between Practices, Policy and Place in Cross Sector Organising”
University of Limerick, Ireland, June 24th-27th, 2020
Dear All:
We cordially invite you to submit your abstracts and engage with us through this track and, more broadly, through the entire CSSI2020 conference.
Here is an excerpt of our track call for papers:
"We invite contributors to challenge, advance and refine our understanding of wicked problems and the governance of partnerships with studies that delve deeper into the social-ecological context where partnerships are embedded. In areas like agriculture, fisheries, water or climate, partnerships are not only dealing with markets, policies and societal values, but also with social-ecological systems that have their own uncertainties and complexities (Dewulf & Biesbroek, 2018). Therefore, we invite authors to take into deeper account the socio-materiality (Leonardi 2012) involved in the partnerships’ governance. For example, a partnership working on ‘sustainable’ palm oil may, because of the materiality of palm oil itself, require different governance arrangements than others working on water and sanitation, or on sustainable fisheries.”
