    Hello Everyone,

I want to share an interesting pedagogy session that will take place this upcoming Friday.  Have you ever considered the idea of a field station in your business or management program?  We have at Bucknell University's Freeman College of Management!  We will share our journey and would love to hear what you're doing around deeply-embedded community-engaged pedagogy.  Please consider joining us!

Field Stations in Management Education: Can They Help Us Produce Greater Impact?

    Session Type: PDW Workshop
    Program Session: 54 | Submission: 15318 | Sponsor(s): (PNP)
Scheduled: Friday, Aug 9 2019 8:00AM - 10:00AM at Hilton Boston Back Bay in Washington

Pedagogy has certainly changed over the past 50 years, and recent advances in experiential and service-learning methods have helped to transform the way we engage our students and assist community partners. However, with the rise of "impact" assessment by accreditation bodies, and desires of faculty and administrations in higher education institutions to "go big" in relation to community engagement and impact, one must ask if we are doing everything we can to realize these goals. This 90-minute PDW offers an opportunity to learn about creating university-community field stations with the hope of creating significant community impact. The session will begin with a brief presentation by scholars who have significant experience in creating a university-field station, and will then turn to a guided open dialogue with audience participants on the current state and future direction of field stations (and parallel concepts) in management, disciplines within academe, and universities writ large. We encourage attendees to participate and share what is happening at their universities so we can all benefit in learning how to work on behalf of program/university goals and community impact.
