Symposium Summary:
World water resources, once seen as plentiful and virtually infinite, are under increasing pressure from population growth, urbanization, industrial demands, and climate change. Corporations, global governments and institutions, and the environmental and social justice movements have all called attention to this emerging water crisis, or 'grand challenge' in recent years. Yet, despite this attention, water challenges have remained relatively absent from business literature and research. This symposium aims to offer an overview of current cutting-edge research on water issues with studies that explore the antecedents and consequences of the interactions with water from different global, empirical, and theoretical perspectives. We seek to explore how management researchers can approach these vital issues, as well as identify potential intersections, collaborations, and opportunities for future research and impact.
