Message from Program Chair: Ivan Montiel, Baruch College
The ONE division invites papers and symposia that address all aspects of the relationship between organizations and the natural environment. The ONE division should be able to contribute significantly to the 2020 AOM theme of "20/20: Broadening our Sight".
20/20 Broadening Our Sight emphasizes the need to study the most pressing grand challenges related to management and organizations. These grand societal challenges were recently mapped out by the United Nations in their 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Organizations will play a central role in reaching the SDGs and ONE scholars can contribute to achieve these goals. Climate change is listed among one of the most pressing challenges in the 21st century and it is central theme to the ONE Division. Our community has extensive knowledge on the interactions between organizations and, not only climate change but also other interrelated challenges such as conflict, corruption, and economic inequality. We have therefore an opportunity and compromise to advance knowledge on the alleviation of all these urgent grand societal challenges. We look forward to your paper and symposia submissions.
The deadline for submissions is January 14, 2019, and the system can be accessed via: http://aom.org/annualmeeting/submission/
Message from Professional Development Workshops (PDW) Chair: Sukhbir Sandhu, University of South Australia
This year's Academy theme, "20/20: Broadening our Sight" is particularly relevant for the ONE division. Now more than ever we need the action on the sustainability agenda to be "fast and furious". For the 2020 PDW program the ONE division invites submissions that interrogate our theories and methods so that we can broaden our sight at individual, organizational and societal levels to fast-track the sustainability agenda. We particularly encourage PDW submissions that will enable us work with practitioners in recognizing the urgency of addressing environmental challenges.
