    Dear colleagues,

The University of Manchester is currently advertising a very attractive fellowship. The job is a tenure-track-style position with very little teaching in the first period of employment. If you have finished your PhD recently, this will be an ideal position to further develop your research agenda. We have colleagues working across the fields of strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship and have published in top journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Research Policy and Journal of Business Venturing. The position focuses on innovation, broadly defined. However, we have a strong profile in the area of sustainability so applications from the ONE community are very welcome.

    Kind regards,

    Jonatan Pinkse

    Closing Date : 02/12/2018

Salary : £40,792 to £50,132 per annum (according to relevant experience)

The Presidential Fellowships are for four years, and subject to satisfactory performance. Fellows will then transfer to a permanent and appropriate academic contract.

Creative, ambitious and keen to develop transformative research, you will relish this excellent opportunity to drive your academic career to a higher level. As an impressive early career academic, you will recognise that securing a Presidential Research Fellowship at the University of Manchester will empower you to unlock your potential. In addition to a good salary for the duration of your Fellowship, you will receive generous research support funds and access to key technology platforms. Your time during this award will be initially dedicated to research, with no or minimal teaching in the first year, and minimal teaching in the second year.  Thereafter teaching would increase with each subsequent year of the fellowship.  You can look forward to mentoring and assistance in winning external funding and awards.

As a Presidential Research Fellow, you will join the Innovation Management and Policy Division at Alliance Manchester Business School.  Businesses and economies are continuously transformed by innovation and entrepreneurship, and these activities create opportunities as well as their own challenges - from sustainable innovation and business models, to utilising big data to devise new products and services, and finding ways to enhance productivity, for example by using advanced robotics and 3-D printing, and other digital technologies. You will help us address challenges like these in the micro-foundations of innovation. Your research may explore process and practices of creativity and entrepreneurship, the marketing-innovation interface, or the changing relationships between human skills and innovation.

To join us, you will need a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification. You will have a growing reputation in research, evidenced by an emerging portfolio of internationally recognised publications. Crucially, you will demonstrate the ability to develop a coherent world-leading research programme, with new concepts and ideas to extend intellectual understanding. You have what it takes to organise resources and deliver results to deadlines. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills also equip you to build a team, and to inspire and engage students. The determination to win your own research funding will be key to your success.

The University of Manchester is committed to building a culturally diverse institution where all staff and students can flourish and feel valued for their contribution and individuality.  Our policies and practices are designed to encourage talented people, whatever their background, to work and study here.  All appointments are made on merit.
