ONE Plenary, "Combatting the Sustainability Spiral of Silence"

A key highlight of our program this year is the ONE Plenary. We deliberately schedule the plenary so that there is no overlap with other ONE sponsored sessions, to encourage attendance by our division. This year's plenary addresses the 'spiral of silence' on sustainability. Scientists are notoriously bad at communicating their findings to the general public. In this plenary, experts from different disciplines will gather for a fireside chat, to share their experiences of how they have communicated difficult topics related to sustainability to a set of different stakeholders, from businesses to politicians to local communities. We hope that by drawing on experiences of those within and outside of the ONE community, we can gain insight on ways to communicate on sustainability. Our experts include: Andrew Hoffman, Kira Rose, Gail Whiteman and Jason Jay.
