How to Make Your Conference Experience Eco-Friendly

Skip the printed program and use one of the many electronic options available.

Become familiar with the “green” features of your hotel and use them. More information is available on the conference Housing website.

Stay closer to the conference venue to avoid unnecessary travel.

Reuse your hotel room towel and bedding.

Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Turn off lights when leaving your hotel room and unplug appliances or other equipment when not in use.

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or washing your face.

Adjust your hotel room temperature or turn off the air conditioning when you are not in the room.

Locate and use recycling and compost bins throughout the conference venues.

Recycle papers, fliers, and handouts (or do not take them at all!).

Seek out local, organic, seasonal, vegetarian, and vegan dining options.

Bring a reusable water bottle with you.

Purchase carbon offsets for your trip.

Use public or shared transit options.

Rent a bicycle through a local bike share program.

Request an alternative fuel or hybrid vehicle taxi and share your ride with others.

Encourage others to “green” their conference experience, too!
