Interested in corporate sustainability metrics and analysis of carbon performance? Join our AoM Symposium, "Sustainability Performance of the Firm: Measurement and Mechanisms", Friday, Aug 5 2022 10:00AM - 11:30AM PST at the Hyatt Regency Seattle, room 304.
Our symposium asks, "how do we measure corporate carbon performance and what does it reveal?" and answers come by way of these speakers & papers:

Patrick Callery (University of Vermont), "How do Firms Respond to Ratings?  The Influence of Rating Methodology on Disclosure Behavior"? This work addresses the question, do firms set GHG targets to reduce emissions or to gain higher sustainability ratings?

Miron Avidan (University of St. Gallen), "An exploration of GHG target setting over time: The role of specificity, alignment, and other second-order factors". This paper asks, do firm decarbonization commitments by firms make a difference for performance.

Ben Leffel (University of Michigan), "Green neighbors? Local vs firm-level determinants of corporate greenhouse gas emissions reduction". This paper illustrates how both local policy and internal corporate ESG efforts drive corporate facility-level GHG emissions reduction.

Discussants Thomas Lyon (University of Michigan) and Glen Dowell (Cornell University) will offer commentary on these papers.

We hope you will join us!
