    The Faculty of Management and the Department of Leadership and Organizations invite applications for a probationary/continuing appointment at the rank of Instructor or Senior Instructor, commencing July 1, 2023. The successful candidate is expected to bring expertise in how modern organizations should respond to the climate crisis and achieve goals in environmental sustainability, rooted in evidence-based and science-based decision-making. Their responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate management courses with strong climate, environment, and ethical decision-making themes; working with colleagues to incorporate these themes into existing courses; and engaging directors and colleagues in building these themes into program curricula, drawing on expertise from across the University.

    Required qualifications, experience and skills: 

    • A PhD, DBA, or equivalent terminal degree in a related field. Applicants very close to their thesis defense date may also be considered. 
    • Demonstrated knowledge in the area of evidence-based responses to climate and sustainability needs in an organizational context; 
    • Demonstrated ability to connect issues of ethics and sustainability to employees' behaviour, industrial relations, leadership, HR strategies, competitiveness, and/or influence on governance and public policy; 
    • Evidence of efforts to foster safer spaces for equity-deserving groups; 
    • Established record of teaching excellence in relevant courses; 
    • Experience with online teaching and pedagogical innovation 


    This position requires teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in required courses on ethics and governance in an organizational context. This position also includes developing academic programming that can strengthen our Faculty's efforts to provide students with education that helps them build diverse, sustainable organizations that respond to the ongoing climate crisis. This is a teaching-focused position; the teaching load is defined by the Faculty's workload policy. The career-stream instructor (probationary/continuing) position is one in which the successful candidate will undergo performance evaluation and review consistent with the Dalhousie Faculty Association collective agreement (http://www.dal.ca/collectiveagreements), with the possibility to advance through ranks of Instructor/Senior instructor/University Teaching Fellow, in a continuing appointment.
