Myself along with Dr Payal Kumar (Dean, Indian school of Hospitality) are working towards developing an edited volume exploring the Dark Side of Sustainability. The exact topic of the edited volume is "Dark Side of ESG and Sustainable Development, Inequality, Market Failure and Global North-South Divisions".  The edited volume will be published by Emerald Publications, London, UK.

In this edited volume, we explore more provocative topics, or the dark side of sustainability, sustainable development and corporate sustainability strategy, which include themes such as market failure and Global North-South divisions. The research to be presented includes empirical research, review articles, theoretical case studies and conceptual articles. This edited volume has been divided into five crucial themes: Just Transition and Equity; Emerging market and the north-south divide; First mover advantage and disadvantage; CSR Tokenism and ESG Green washing; and Sustainability Standards. We hope these themes will encourage scholars to submit their work exploring the deeper and darker sides of sustainability and its effects on communities, humanity, countries, startups and corporations. The idea is to access the risk associated with Sustainable transition on businesses, markets and countries.

We invite conceptual and theoretical papers, case studies (single or multiple) and empirical studies. Since the field is nascent and developing, we are open to different thematic and ideological interpretations. Authors are requested to submit proposals of 500 words by 31 December 2024 to >Anirudh.Agrawal@Outlook.Com<. Proposals that are accepted are to be followed by articles of 6000 to 7000 words (including references), in APA style (Times New Roman, 12 points) by 30 June 2025. We aim to complete the review by 30 November 2025 and send the manuscript for publication. All the articles/book chapters will be SCOPUS INDEXED. The Scopus index for book volumes take 2-12 months from the date of publication. All our previous books have been scopus index.
