ONErs,
The Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE) division of the Academy of Management (AOM) is seeking nominations for the inaugural ONE Advancement Officer. This newly created pilot volunteer position marks a significant milestone in ONE's development and is the result of a collaborative effort with AOM's Finance and Governance teams.
Background: ONE has established valuable relationships with sponsors and funders, but maintaining richness and continuity in these relationships has been challenging due to the annual transition of the ONE Chair. Additionally, much of this work has fallen to the Treasurer, whose responsibilities are already substantial. To address these challenges and enhance ONE's long-term sustainability and impact, we collaborated with AOM to create this new role.
The ONE Advancement Officer will play a critical role in fundraising, sponsorship, and grant development to support ONE's mission of advancing scholarship, teaching, and service in our field. By sustaining and strengthening relationships with current and future partners, this role will help secure the resources needed to propel ONE forward.
As a pilot role, and as we find our way with it, we will work closely with AOM to pre-approval advancement initiatives and refine how this position can best serve ONE's needs into the future. This is an exciting opportunity for an engaged ONE member to shape and develop a groundbreaking role, working alongside the ONE Chair, ONE executive eeam and other teams, members, and AOM leadership.
Key Responsibilities (see full role description attached)
- Develop and implement strategies for securing financial support for ONE
- Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, grantors, and funding partners
- Identify and coordinate grant applications and sponsorships

- Collaborate with ONE teams to support long-term funding sustainability
Qualifications
- Active membership in ONE and AOM (must be maintained throughout service)
- Experience in fundraising, sponsorship, or grant-writing
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Commitment to ONE's mission and values
Why Serve?
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of ONE, develop or expand your leadership experience, and make a lasting impact on our growth and sustainability. The ONE Advancement Officer will gain valuable experience while building connections with leading scholars and professionals in the field.
