Business & Society Co-Editors' Manuscript Development Workshop at IABS

Business & Society is sponsoring this workshop to provide feedback to authors on a wide range of business and society topics that are being addressed conceptually and/or empirically.  A second objective is to provide an opportunity for you to meet, discuss and get expert feedback from a mentor on research papers and/or ideas in the business and society field!

We plan to assemble a team of experienced mentors, Co-editors and Associate Editors of the journal as well IABs fellows who are experienced scholars and have been successful at publishing on topics such as ethics, corporate responsibility, stakeholder or related work in top management journals such as Business & Society, Journal of Business Ethics, AMJ, AMR, Org Science, Org Studies and SMJ to help other IABS members, doctoral students, junior faculty, as well as other faculty publish their research. We plan to have two tracks, one for full length manuscripts and one for abstracts.

This will be a virtual workshop, so we are going to ask the paper or abstract submitter to contact their assigned mentor and set up a time to meet during the IABs conference, June 1st – 6th.

Track 1:  Applicants to the workshop must submit a paper to the session organizer by May 1st, 2021

There will be a selection process conducted, once the papers are submitted.  After an applicant's paper is accepted, it will be assigned to a mentor. Each mentor will receive (ahead of time) a working paper and will prepare comments for the applicants prior to their online session. We are looking for works-in-progress so applicants should limit their submissions to no more than 40 pages including references, tables, figures and so forth.  Manuscripts should be submitted as Word documents (not PDF files) and should NOT be anonymous. Again, the author of the submission needs to contact his/her mentor to set up a time to meet during the conference week.

Track 2:  Applicants must submit an extended abstract to the session organizer by May 1st, 2021

We will also have a track for researchers who are not quite as far along in terms of their research project.  Those interested in this track should submit an extended abstract (eight to ten pages), describing a new research idea and/ or current research project to be explored with the discussants and other participants. Following the previous model, there will be a selection process for the abstracts. Once your abstract is accepted, you will be provided a mentor.  All abstracts should be submitted as a Word document (not PDF files).  Again, the author of the submission needs to contact his/her mentor to set up a time to meet during the conference week.

    .

Please send your manuscript, by May 1st, 2021, to Kathleen.rehbein@marquette.edu and

indicate "IABs Manuscript Development session" in the subject line.  If you would like to list your dream mentors, please do so, you never know what could happen in this virtual world!!
