    Dear ONE Community Members:

Please join Mark Starik (University of Wisconsin System/ Walden University) and guest panelists for a live PDW discussion session on Multiple-Level Sustainability and Climate Change (Sunday, Aug 1, 3 - 5 PM EDT)

Individual efforts to address climate and other sustainability issues can seem paltry and their vast global challenges so daunting that resolution, if even possible, can be elusive.  One approach to prevent being stymied into inaction and despair on sustainability and climate issues is to identify how such problems can be managed at multiple levels of human organization (from micro to macro), learning lessons at one level to be applied at others.  For example, the health issue of tobacco smoking has been addressed at the individual level (via psychotherapy), at the organizational level (through the designation of non-smoking areas), and at the societal level (with public information campaigns of medical associations).   This workshop highlights several multi-level sustainability and climate management values, practices, and outcomes, focusing a significant amount of attention on how the participants propose that the climate emergency issue be managed on two or more levels and their roles in those multi-level management efforts.

Mark Starik (Univ. of Wisconsin System/Walden Univ., both US) organized the session and the panelists will include:  Patricia Kanashiro of Loyola University Maryland (US), Eva Collins of the University of Waikato, (NZ), Cathy Rusinko of Thomas Jefferson University (US), Gordon Rands of Western Illinois University (US), Yipeng Liu of the University of Reading (UK), and Gabriela Gutierrez Huerter O of Kings College London (UK).  All AOM members, especially ONE and SIM members, are encouraged to attend the session and participate actively in both the session Q&A and a call for proposals on the session topic.
