    Dear colleagues,

Deforestation is a serious existential threat. It contributes significantly to climate change; it pushes numerous wildlife species (think Orangutans) to extinction; and it snatches basic human rights and means of livelihood from hundreds of millions of impoverished communities around the world. What causes deforestation? Well, the matter is complex; but businesses, through their supply chains, are responsible for most of it. How can it be stopped? Again, the matter is complex; but our community of scholars can help find solutions.

We are co-editing a special issue of Business Strategy & the Environment, entitled, "Deforestation, Global Value Chains, and Corporate Sustainability." Our aim - and hope - is to engage corporate sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and value/supply chain scholars in finding solutions to this stubborn and worsening problem.

Unfortunately, the call is not open access. For the benefit of those who may not have access to full articles in this journal, I am attaching the call (attached PDF) to this email.

We invite you to discuss ideas. Contact details are provided below. The deadline for submitting a short proposal is March 30, 2021; full papers are due Sept 1, 2021.

    Thank you,
